He remains committed to issues relating to conservation, climate change, diminishing cultures, wildlife and the environment.
His photo stories often has themes relating to the environment and peoples relations to nature and landscapes. He is dedicated to social and humanitarian issues and usually try to include such topics, when he tells a story through his photos.
Martin took up photography at an early age and as a 15-year-old found himself photographing the Scandinavian landscape and its wildlife mostly in monochrome. His first camera was a Nikon FG-20 analog camera, a gift from his father. He soon after established a darkroom at home and began to develop his own films and make black & white prints. One of his favourite subjects to photograph was his beloved dog, an Old Danish Pointer.
Martin’s work has been published by Outside Magazine, Terre Sauvage, Politiken, GEO, Le Figaro and other respected international magazines and newspapers.
His pictures have appeared in numerous exhibitions around the world and has been displayed in art galleries and in many book publications, billboards and posters.
Martin has published 6 books about nature and created eBooks to view on laptop or desktop computers. He is currently preparing two more titles for book publications.
Martin has received awards for his photo stories on the environment and several of his pictures have been ‘highly commended’ in some international photo competitions.
Martin doesn’t use Ai technologies and he never manipulate his pictures when post-processing.
Since 2007, he has developed a long-term documentary titled “Føroyar - Náttúra & Fólk”. With this project, he photographs the harsh landscapes of the Faroe islands and document the lifestyle of the Faroese people. He expect to publish a hard cover book on the topic in 2025.
In 2019, he started to work on another long-term projects, to document the climate change, diminishing cultures and the environment of the “seven sister states” in the northeastern region of India. This project began, when Martin visited the area to work on a photo story about some of southeast Asia’s last honey gatherers.
